A DEALER'S, COACH'S AND SHOOTER'S
EVALUATION OF THE SPOT-HOGG 'HOOTER SHOOTER'
DEALER
When I first saw the Hooter Shooter at the January
1999 AMO Show, I have to admit I was a bit
skeptical. Was the Hooter Shooter worth the money
and could it tune bows better than we were currently
doing? Since Spot-Hogg had a history of
manufacturing quality products, (laser alignment
tool, cable adjusters) I decided to take a chance
and purchase a Hooter Shooter. After my Hooter
Shooter arrived, I spent some time getting familiar
with its operation. My next step was to find a
freestyle shooter who was looking to shoot higher
scores and was willing to have his bow tuned with
the Hooter Shooter. My first customer was a 300-50x
shooter who prided himself in the fact that, after
spending countless hours super tuning his bow, he
had the best bow setup possible. In order to get the
arrows impacting in the same hole it was necessary
to add 3 turns to the upper buss cable. The customer
picked up his bow and went to the range to sight in.
After the practice session he commented that his bow
"Held on the dot better than ever." The next day the
customer shot his personal best 300-58x at a league
shoot. The success of the Hooter Shooter spread by
word of mouth and within 4 months, I had paid off my
initial investment and was making a profit. When the
snow melted and the weather warmed up, I brought the
Hooter Shooter outside. The Hooter Shooter showed
its versatility as shooters who adamantly refused to
let anyone tune their bows came to me to have the
Hooter Shooter group test their arrows at 40 yards
in preparation for the outdoor tournament season.
The use of the Hooter Shooter was not restricted to
tournament shooters. Many bow hunters wanted to
leave nothing to chance and had their bows tuned
with the Hooter Shooter.
SHOOTER
After I observed how successful the Hooter Shooter
was in tuning bows for release shooters, I decided
to see what it would do with my bow set up for
finger shooting. I was able to get arrows impacting
in the same hole at 20 yards even though the Hooter
Shooter's Cascade release was shooting arrows
through a flipper rest and a cushion plunger. The
only noticeable difference I found was that the
arrows did not impact on the target where the sight
was pointed. This was obviously due to the
difference in arrow paradox between fingers and
release aids. After tuning my bow with the Hooter
Shooter, I found that the size of my groups
decreased especially at long distances. I used my
Hooter Shooter tuned bow to win the Championship
Freestyle Limited Division at the Atlantic City
Archery Classic, the NFAA Outdoor National
Tournament and the New York State Indoor & Outdoor
Championships.
NATIONAL ARCHERY ASSOCIATION LEVEL NATIONAL COACH
After working on a student's form, I use the Hooter
Shooter to provide the "icing on the cake" and tune
their bow and group test their arrows.
CONCLUSION
For 25 years Mr. Norb Mullaney has used a homemade
shooting machine to test bows for his Bow Report
articles in Bowhunting World magazine. The archery
industry has been in need of a commercially
available shooting machine. With the introduction of
the Spot-Hogg Hooter Shooter this need has been
answered.

JUST A SMALL NOTE TO THE INVENTOR OF THE
HOOTER SHOOTER
This machine has performed so well for us that our
customer base has increased dramatically. We are now
tuning broadheads, and have customers coming back
from hunts in Canada with photographs of their
trophies. They have taken shots up to 56 yards on
Caribou. When they arrived at the camp, the people
there asked them what they planned to shoot with
their bow. They replied, "Caribou, that's what we
came here for." The people up there said, "forget
it, you won't even get close enough to them." The
next day they had one down. Two days after that they
had three more down. Our customers told them that
their bows were tuned on a Hooter Shooter and that
they practice every day and that they had faith in
the Hooter Shooter and the people that tuned the
bow. Needless to say, the people in Canada were
shocked. Once again, from myself and my staff here
at Oxford Bait and Sport we thank you for designing
a precision tuning tool.

Subject: Cabe's the man!
Hey Spot-Hoggers, just wanted to say that my Mach-8
is the best bow I have ever shot. Cabe was so
professional that he has got my trust with
everything on my bow. The new sight is the best
sight I have ever shot. The fellow bow hunters at
work are in awe of the products on my bow. It
wouldn't surprise me if you all got orders for the
Hogg-It sight and even cable adjusters for their
bows. I just wanted to say that Spot~Hogg is the
best thing that happened to the archery world since
the compound bow...Thanks for everything...

Subject: Spot-hogg release
UNBELIEVABLE!
I purchased a Model 8 at the Vegas Shoot this year
with hopes it would help a case of target panic
(flinching) I have always had. IT WORKED! I've shot
it 1,000 times and no flinching. On top of that it
has made me a much more consistent shooter to the
point I can hardly believe it. It must have to do
with the fact that you must relax to set off the
release instead of a punch or squeeze with
conventional releases. I am shooting at Tulsa this
weekend. In the past my best scores have been in the
middle 290 range (if I did not flinch). I've never
shot a 300 in competition and only one in practice.
Now I feel that I can't miss. I'm now counting the
X's.
I'll let you know the outcome. Wish me luck.
An avid supporter,
Mike Stephens
